"Swimming is not about being the fastest in the lane, but about becoming better than you were yesterday. Trust the process, stay consistent, and remember, if I can become an Olympian, so can you."

About DMV Swim Club
Built on Olympic Experience. Refined by Science. Designed for You.

DMV Swim Club was founded and is led by Head Coach Bryan Kim, PhD, OLY, a three time Olympian who represented South Korea at the 1996, 2000, and 2004 Olympic Games.

With over a decade of international competition and more than 16 years of coaching experience, Head Coach Bryan brings a rare combination of Olympic racing instinct and evidence based sport science to every swimmer.

He trained at the University of Florida under legendary head coach Gregg Troy alongside Olympic champions including Caleb Dressel (former Gator gold medalist Olympian) and Anthony Nesty (gold medalist, current UF head coach). He trained with Ryan Lochte and competed against Michael Phelps inside one of the most elite swim environments in the world.

He previously trained in the United States, Singapore, Mexico, and South Korea, creating a globally informed coaching philosophy built on precision, discipline, and long term athlete growth. Multilingual in English and Korean. Conversational in Spanish, basic in Chinese.

The ultimate goal is to develop a selected group of age group swimmers toward Olympic Trials and hopefully the Olympics, while preparing competitive swimmers for D1 college scholarships through direct connections to university coaches nationwide. Our focus is quality, not quantity. There will be tryouts and registrations for those who want to go beyond leisure swimming and compete at a higher level. We also aim to complement existing swim clubs in the area, helping their swimmers sharpen technique and racing skills.

Our Mission

1. To develop confident and technically sound swimmers of all ages and backgrounds, from first time learners to high performance competitors.

2. To make swimming fun, educational, and safe while building strong foundations in water safety, technique, and lifelong athletic development.

3. To lead a swim team with integrity, honesty, precision, and Olympic level experience, helping every swimmer grow at their own pace and reach their highest potential.

Head Coach Bryan's Philosophy

Technique before intensity. Every stroke biomechanically right before we push pace.
The mind matters as much as the body. Goal setting, visualization, anxiety reduction.
Show by example. I'll get in the water at times to demonstrate a technique or racing skill. Step by step instruction, video analysis, immediate feedback.
Positive reinforcement builds champions. Confidence is a trained skill.
Self driven swimmers win. My job is to light the fire, not carry you.

Bryan has a talent for coaching that most elite athletes do not have. He gets in the pool and demonstrates instead of coaching from the deck. By far the best swim coach my son has ever had.

Coach Bryan is even more awesome than the reviews say. After only an hour, my daughter was swimming cleaner and more efficiently. His critical eye missed nothing.
